Free Electric Tricycle Rental with a Library Card

Feb 09, 2024

Beyond books, board games, video games, and movies, a broader range of items are available for library borrowing. Individuals aged 18 and above, holding an active Sacramento library card, can freely rent an electric tricycle for up to three weeks. This initiative is part of the city of Sacramento’s fresh pilot lending program.

It is being made possible through a collaboration between Colonial Heights Library and the city. According to Rachel Patten, the city’s sustainability analyst, this new eco-friendly transportation option contributes to the community.

The inventory comprises five electric tricycles, each equipped with cargo baskets, and there are prospects for the city to broaden this initiative. There is a possibility of introducing more vehicles and extending similar lending programs to various libraries throughout Sacramento.

Upon borrowing a tricycle from Colonial Heights Library’s service desk, you will receive a set of keys, a lock, a battery, a charger, and a weather protection cover. The Sacramento Public Library offers comprehensive guidance on charging, operating, and securing electric tricycles.

When you are done with the tricycle, you must return the vehicle and all provided equipment to the location where you initially checked them out.
